Suns announcer Al McCoy named Grand Marshal of Glendale Christmas Parade

Posted

Long-time Suns play-by-play announcer Al McCoy will be the Grand Marshal of the annual Hometown Christmas Parade in downtown Glendale, 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.

Mr. McCoy has been a Glendale resident for over 45 years and just began his 48th season with the Suns, nearly the length of the franchise’s existence and the longest consecutive run as a team’s broadcaster in NBA history. He calls play-by-play action on Arizona Sports Radio and the Suns radio networ Mr. McCoy was inducted into the team’s ring of honor in 2017.

The parade includes a food drive for the Hope for Hunger Food Bank, 5605 N. 55th Ave. The parade route travels west on Glendale Avenue, starting at 51st Avenue and ending at 58th Avenue. For information on how to donate to the food bank, submit a parade entry or sign up as a parade volunteer, visit hcparade.org .

The Christmas Parade is making the rounds among Valley sports teams. Last year, Diamondbacks legend Luis Gonzalez was the Grand Marshal and Cardinals running back David Johnson held the honor in 2017.
