Speak Up: ‘No Kings’ North Glendale turnout reflects growing movement

Posted

Glendale's “No Kings” protest June 14 attracted about 400 people to all four corners of Happy Valley Road and 67th Avenue. Other than a few angry words exchanged and some drivers leaving exhaust fumes behind, response was positive at Happy Valley. Passers-by honked their horns. There was no counterprotest. Here’s a selection of what readers had to say on social media:

From NextDoor

  • “Not knowing why the revolutionary war started in the first place... The founding fathers were spot on about direct presidential election.” — Ted Sadlowski
  • “Don’t people have better things to do?” — Eric Webster
  • “I applaud anyone who is willing to stand up for what they believe is right. I don't have to agree or disagree but our Constitution allows this peaceful activity. I remember standing up for Civil Rights, against Vietnam (never against the service men/women) and even "for the whales." So, I am very happy that people are still able to voice their opinion, whether either of us agree or disagree.” — Lauralee Brown
  • “Virtue signaling failure at its best.” — Dave R.
  • “I’ll bet not one of them has a clue what they’re unhappy about. What liberties have they lost?” — Christine W.
  • “Just curious as to how many people at these protests have offered to sponsor an illegal in the past 30 years? None! They are nothing but your typical followers. They are takers, not doers. Love drama, that's all.” — Sydney B.
  • “Didn’t know the U.S. had a royal family.” — Andrew Freeman
  • “God Bless” — Barbara Cannon

 From Facebook

  •  “Great now they’re alone, all 12 of them.” — Lysa Renee
