Annual free event arrives April 2

Registration is open for the annual Glendale Family Bike Ride, which takes place this spring.

The longtime event takes place Sunday, April 2, and starts at Sahuaro Ranch Park, 9802 N. 59th Ave. The ride starts at 8 a.m.

The Glendale Family Bike Ride allows participants to register either for a 7-, 15- or 23-mile ride challenge. The whole event is free, and features race T-shirts.

All ages and skill levels are welcome. Snacks and water are provided at designated rest stops.

All riders must wear a helmet.

Also at the park on race day, look for a helmet swap, which allows riders to recycle their old helmet; food and beverage trucks; bike check-up stations; inflatable rides and activities for kids; bike and traffic safety information; health and wellness booths; and music.

There will also be a raffle to win a free bike.

A free event T-shirt and reflective drawstring backpack are available for the first 500 to register and attend the ride.
