Police search for Glendale homicide suspect

Glendale police need help identifying a suspect in a fatal shooting on New Year’s Day.

Around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, Glendale police responded to a shooting call near a bus stop on the southwest corner of 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

Officers found a man with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as Jesse William Mitchell, 41.

The suspect was seen leaving on foot.

He was described as an African-American male with a dark complexion, in his mid-30s, between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches tall, heavy set build, with a short beard. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and a black beanie hat. Police provided a composite sketch of the suspect.
