The Peoria and Glendale police departments have partnered to create a charity softball tournament involving police officers and firefighters throughout the state.
All proceeds raised will be given to Special Olympics Arizona and Law Enforcement Torch Run Arizona.
Registration for teams of 10 to 15 players open to all first responders and military members. Team entry is $400.
The one-day, double elimination softball tournament will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Paloma Park, 29799 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway, in Peoria. Opening ceremonies start at 8:30 am.
The event is free to the public and will feature a home run derby during the tournament.
Several local departments will be participating including Peoria police and fire, Glendale police and fire, Scottsdale police, El Mirage police, the Arizona Department of Corrections, Gilbert police, Phoenix police (two teams), Surprise police, Avondale police, Yavapai County first responders, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Salt River police, and Special Olympics AZ.
