Three people died and five were injured Sunday night in a shooting at a Glendale restaurant.
Police received reports of shots fired at about 7:45 p.m. May 4 at El Camaron Gigante Mariscos & Steakhouse, 6729 N. 57th Drive, in downtown Glendale.
Glendale Police said three had died and five were hurt, according to reports.
Wednesday afternoon, Glendale Police released the names of the deceased. They are brothers Christopher Juaquin Sproule, 21, and Damien Anthony Sproule, 17, as well as Milo Christopher Suniga, 21.
This incident escalated from a fight between at least two groups of people, according to a May 5 update. There was a concert/car show taking place at the restaurant just south of downtown.
At around 7:45, a fight broke out near the stage area among several individuals, who were told to exit the venue
According to police reports, onnce they exited the venue the fight escalated in the parking lot. That’s when these individuals began shooting at one another.
El Camaron Gigante Mariscos & Steakhouse is one block from the main station of the Glendale Police Department and officers were on the scene and had the situation under control within three minutes.
Glendale Police commended the work that officers did to not only get the situation under control but to provide aid to those who were injured. GPD also thanked firefighters and paramedics for helping provide treatment.
According to police, the five injured victims are:
A 20-year-old female
A 21-year-old female
A 20-year-old male
A 23-year-old male
A 16-year-old male, who was in surgery overnight due to his injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.
No suspects were in custody as of noon Monday. Police reported there are multiple shooters and detectives are trying to narrow the scope of how many shooters were involved.
Police are gathering shell casings in the area to determine how many different types of weapons were used and determine the potential number of shooters.
There were anywhere from 200-300 people who attended the event and the connected restaurant was also open for business at the time, according to police. The individuals we are speaking to are cooperating with the investigation.
Police are continuing to ask for aid from the public to lead to arrests. Contact Glendale Police on its non-emergency line at 623-930-3000.
Arizona Sen. Analise Ortiz spoke about the shooting in a Monday morning press release. It read:
"I offer my deepest condolences to the families of those killed, injured, and impacted by the mass shooting at El Camaron Gigante last night. My heart is with each of you," Ortiz stated. "Gun violence continues to ravage our communities and every tragedy is unacceptable. I am committed to the continued fight for common-sense policy change to end it.”
