Midwestern salutes kids with disabilities on Glendale campus

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 Midwestern University will host Brave Hearts: Nurturing Opportunities & Aspirations for Hope, a special free event for children with disabilities and their caregivers,, on its Glendale campus, 19555 N 59th Ave.

The university's Recreation & Wellness Center will fill with Brave Hearts: NOAH, an inclusive, fun, and educational opportunity for children with disabilities up to age 18 and their caregivers. Participants can take part in many free and interactive workshops, games, and screenings, and receive instruction and resources on medication management, motor skills, picky eating, mental health literacy, epilepsy and seizures and more.

Attendees receive fitness screenings as well as screenings for dental, oral/swallowing and foot issues, and have their vital signs taken and assessed. Special Olympics AZ will provide outdoor field games and fitness activities.

Midwestern University students and faculty will provide the screening and educational services. The event is free but registration is required and ends on Jan. 20, 2025.
