What I do: Teach pre-k in the Peoria district and nanny for a family of six kids.
What I like most about what I do: The kids. They bring joy each and every day regardless of what’s going on in the world. They’re curious, always learning, growing as little people.
Previous occupations and why I left: Operations support at GCU. I left because I graduated and it was time for me to put my degree to use.
If I had picked a different occupation, it might have been: Something along the lines of event planning or interior designing.
My interests and hobbies: Travel, being outside, being with friends.
The best and/or worst time in my life: Best: Vacations. Worst: loss in my life.
My best/worst habits: Counted as both – my OCD and perfectionism.
The trait(s) I admire in others: Hard working, dedicated, reliable, good with people, knowledgeable, good communication.
People who inspired me (and how): My preschool mentor teacher last year. She was not only so good with the kids and the type of teacher that I want to be, but also a genuine, down to earth person to everyone she came in contact with. She was good as her job and at life. She was bold, cared for the well-being of others, and easy to get along with.
My guiding philosophy: Everything happens for a reason. We are constantly going through things in life to change and grow even if we may not see it at the time.
My advice to today’s youth: Be fearless, take risks, chase dreams, love hard.
