Glendale resident Lu Anne Camp, and her writing partner, Sharon Cookson, of Atlanta, have recently had two album cuts by new recording artist Gary Wayne of Nashville.

The songs “Turning My Memory Back On” and “One Cheatin’ Song” will be on Wayne’s upcoming CD with the latter being released as a single.

Camp has toured and performed with various country music bands throughout the years, including Fast Break, Countrypolitan and Saddle ‘n Lace. As a member of the Las Vegas Songwriters Association, she honed into her songwriting skills and today has numerous publishing contracts in Nashville. Her songs “Hand Me Down Heartache” and “A Rainbow After a Storm” were submitted to Music Row Magazine and received honorable mentions by music journalist Robert K Oermann.

As a result of her perseverance and determination, the late Jimmy C. Newman recorded one of Camp’s songs called “Be By You” on his Louisiana Love album. Her song “Please Take My Heart” was picked up by Rascal Flatts at a Nashville song pitch, but unfortunately did not make the album cut.

Camp will be featured as special guest at the West Valley Country Music Showcase, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at I & J Fountain Restaurant, 12221 W. Bell Road. This event is open to the public and there is no cover charge. Dinner reservations are recommended. To reserve a table, call 623-583-1222.

The WVCMA Showcase is held on the first Thursday of each month at this same location.
