John, age 86, of Sun City, AZ, passed on Saturday, October 24, 2020.
John was born and raised in Northern California. He received a B.S. degree at Stanford Univ. and attended Harvard Business School before joining the United States Marine Corps. John proudly served for 6 years active and reserve duty. He received an MBA from Stanford and a PhD from Univ. of Arizona.
John was a consultant for IBM and Price Waterhouse. He taught at NAU and Pima College. He later started his own business designing and selling software. John also worked for a number of years in the Alcohol and Drug field helping certify treatment facilities.
While in the Marines John met his first wife, Darlene, and they had three children together. John’s work took the family to various locations around the US and Canada, finally settling in Tucson in 1975. After his first marriage ended, he met and married his second wife Patti, and they’ve been together for the last 27 years. During those years Patti’s career provided opportunities to move around the country, settling down in Sun City for the last 9-1/2 years.
John was an active member of Unity of Tucson; but as they moved John was active in Unity churches wherever he lived. He eventually became a Prayer Chaplain at the Unity Spiritual Center in Sun City.
But what was most important to John was his 45 years as a Friend of Bill W. As a sober, recovering man he helped many people over those years.
John is survived by his loving wife, Patti; sons, Matt and Mark (Cielo); and daughter, Laurie; as well as granddaughters, Mercedes and Anna; and many nieces and nephews. John also leaves behind many wonderful friends all around the country, because wherever John lived, he touched many lives.
