A 212-home housing development near Arizona Christian University and a five-story hotel near the Desert Diamond West Valley Casino will come before the Glendale Planning Commission for approval Thursday.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Glendale Civic Center, 5750 W. Glenn Drive and will be broadcast on public access Channel 11 and streamed on the city’s website, YouTube channel and Facebook page.
The commission will review a preliminary plat for 212 homes proposed for a 58.9-acre property next to the Arizona Christian University campus southeast of the 59th Avenue and Greenway Road intersection. The campus once was home to the Thunderbird School of Global Management beginning in 1946.
A separate rezoning request will come before the commission for a proposed mixed-use development on 3.6 acres southeast of Loop 101 and Northern Avenue, just northwest of the Desert Diamond West Valley Casino. The development plans for a five-story hotel, shops and drive-thru restaurants.
Also up for review Thursday are 46 homes proposed for a 12-acre property at the southeast corner of 87th and Northern avenues and six houses proposed for a 3.8-acre property southeast of 53rd Avenue and Beardsley Road.
