Hot air balloon company relocating to Glendale

In its 40th year, Rainbow Ryders shifting from Phoenix to West Valley

A hot air balloon operating company celebrating its 40-year anniversary this fall is relocating to Glendale.

Rainbow Ryders recently broke ground on a new, larger office at 7934 N. Glen Harbor Blvd. The nearly 14,000-square-foot facility, being built by Ganem Construction, will serve as the company’ new Valley headquarters after moving from Phoenix.

The new location is estimated to open by spring 2024.

“Glendale is known for its vast offerings in the experiential entertainment space,” Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers shared in a news release. “Welcoming Rainbow Ryders as another major attraction further cements the significant contributions travel and tourism have on our economy.”

Rainbow Ryders started offering hot air balloon flights in the scenic Rio Grande Valley in 1983 and has grown to serve the Southwest, with flights offered in Phoenix, Albuquerque and Colorado Springs with its 40-balloon fleet.

Rainbow Ryders pilots have flown more than 100,000 hours combined, serving 40,000 passengers per year.
