Glendale Union High School District starts year through distance learning
Posted
Independent Newsmedia
Glendale Union High School District began the school year through remote, virtual learning Monday.
GUHSD has committed to distance learning for the first four weeks of the school year, with students staying home through at least Friday, Sept. 4. The district says when Sept. 4 nears, it will announce whether it will extend remote learning or transition to a hybrid in-person model.
Students will be permitted on campus as early as next week because Gov. Doug Ducey issued an executive order last month, requiring all public and charter schools must offer by Monday, Aug. 17 “free on-site learning opportunities and support services for students who need a place to go during the day.”
GUHSD includes three high schools in Glendale — Glendale, Apollo and Independence high schools — and six in Phoenix.
