The Glendale Police Department received $430,000 in federal and state grant funds last week to address needs related to the coronavirus.
The U.S. Department of Justice gave a $267,000 grant and the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission gave a $163,000 grant to the GPD. Both grants can be used to pay for overtime, equipment (including law enforcement and medical personal protective equipment), hiring, supplies (such as gloves, masks, sanitizer), training, travel expenses (particularly related to the distribution of resources to the most impacted areas), and addressing the medical needs of inmates.
The Glendale Fire Department also received a $10,000 grant from the Arizona Emergency Medical Systems Inc. for the purchase of personal protective equipment, decontamination supplies and Emergency Medical Services supplies to support the department’s COVID-19 response.
