Glendale Mayor Weiers kicks off parks month

Posted

On June 30, Mayor Jerry P. Weiers officially proclaimed July as Parks and Recreation Month in the city of Glendale, as part of a national effort to promote park activities.

Weiers visited the Glendale Parks and Recreation department at the Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center to recognize and thank all the full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal employees for their hard work.

“We all know the value of parks—they're where families gather, kids play, people exercise, and memories are made,” Weiers stated in a press release. “Parks make neighborhoods stronger, they improve health, and they make Glendale a better place to live and work. The dedication our parks and recreation team bring day in, and day out, is unmatched and I am thankful for it.”

In July the city is calling on residents to take part in activities, especially at aquatics centers and splash pads, during Park and Recreation Month. Print out Glendale's activity calendar, complete the daily challenges, and attend the activities listed, and check them off.

Residents can see how many they finish by the end of the month and visit a Glendale center during Family Playdate on July 25 and receive a prize pack.
