Glendale will be well represented when Momma’s Organic Market/Get Local Arizona Events kick off their 15th season on Saturday, Oct. 1.
In addition to farmers markets at Glendale locations — Arrowhead Towne Center, 7700 W. Arrowhead Towne Center; and Cabela’s, 9380 W. Glendale Ave. — Momma’s will continue Food Truck Friday, also in Glendale.
“We’re so excited to be partnering with both Arrowhead mall and Cabela’s again,” Christa Esquibel, owner of the market’s parent company, Get Local Arizona Events, shared in a news release. “We’re so grateful to these large businesses who help support local small businesses at the market each week. Our markets have evolved over the past 15 years, and we couldn’t have done it without the continued support from local farmers, fresh foods, food trucks and countless other incredible small businesses in the West Valley.”
The Esquibel family began the market in the front yard of their mom, Cindy Bauer, in Peoria. The modest beginning quickly blossomed.
“She lived on an acre when we tried having a little get together,” Esquibel recalled to the Independent back in 2020. “We didn’t think it was gonna be all that big. We had like 12 vendors, and 500 people showed up. And we said, ‘OK, we’ve got to find a place to have this.’”
The Saturday market at Arrowhead is in the upper level Dillard’s parking lot. The market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday from October through April, and features more than 125 vendors each week.
The Sunday market at Cabela’s/Bass Pro Shop near Westgate goes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday from October through April.
Get Local Arizona Events also hosts the weekly Food Truck Friday West. Currently at Desert Financial Credit Union, located at 17445 N. 79th Ave., in Glendale, from 6 to 9 p.m. through this week, starting Saturday, Oct. 1, they will move back to their old location at Sam’s Club/Walmart, at 18501 N. 83rd Ave.
October hours will change to 5 to 9 p.m., and will feature more than 15 food trucks each week, a free bounce house for children, a local DJ playing music, a barrel train ride, face painting and plenty of seating.
Get Local Arizona will also present a Buckeye market.
The Sun City Festival Farmer’s Market, at Sage Center, 26501 W. Desert Vista Blvd., will open in October and take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every other Thursday morning through April.
Leashed, friendly dogs are allowed at all markets.
