Artisans and crafters have created homemade goods for sale to support community partner Soldier’s Best Friend and fund a church project.
The craft sale is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Dove of the Desert United Methodist Church, 7201 W Beardsley Road in Glendale. A large variety of items is available from handmade wood items and holiday decorations to quilts and table runners.
Other crafts include crocheted animals, dog mats and pet treats, along with toys amd homemade jams and breads.
Half of all proceeds will go to our community partner, Soldier’s Best Friend. This Peoria-based non-profit provides combat veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injury service and therapeutic companion dogs, most of which are rescued from local shelters.
Specially designed dog mats are made by Dove of the Desert for these important companion dogs. The other half of the proceeds will go to the church for some landscaping work.
Those who have a veteran they want to honor can pay for the materials for a dog mat for a Soldier’s Best Friend veteran/dog team in honor of a veteran of choice.
