Two students from Glendale Community College, 6000 W. Olive Ave., Anahi Jimenez and Rose Ramirez, won district-wide Artists of Promise awards for dance.

Each year, the Maricopa Community Colleges sponsor a district-wide competition to encourage and recognize student achievement in theatre design and in theatre acting/performance. Winning students will be selected to have their work displayed at the Artists of Promise at the Herberger Theater in Phoenix.

The GCC students collaborated on two pieces:

  • “Who Knows?”: 1st place Group Choreography, 3rd place Group Performance
  • “Narcosis”: 1st place Group Performance, 3rd place Group Choreography

“We were completely shocked to find out that we placed,” the pair stated in a Glendale Community College news release. “We went into the event with an open mind and happy to perform. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to share our movement with everybody. We were honored that we were able to share the stage with such amazing dancers. It was an amazing experience and we hope to continue to create and share our crazy minds with the world.”

Fall 2020 classes begin at the main campus and the north campus, 5727 W. Happy Valley Road, Glendale, on Saturday, Aug. 22.
