Fire burns 180-200 acres at Thunderbird Mountain

Posted

A fire burned 180-200 acres at the Thunderbird Conservation Park Thursday, near 59th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road in Glendale.

Crews were sent out at 8:44 a.m. Thursday to a fire that started on top of the mountain, which leads Glendale Fire Department to believe it was human created, however this is not confirmed. One structure was threatened at the 500 Club Golf Course, but crews were about to protect the structure. No homes were threatened and no injuries were reported.

Phoenix and Peoria fire departments and the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management assisted Glendale Fire Department in putting out the fire.
