Interim superintendent Dean on list

The Dysart Unified School District Governing Board named three finalists in the superintendent search at the Aug. 25 governing board meeting.

The finalists were selected from a pool of seven applicants, and were invited to participate in in-person interviews for the position on Sept. 22 with the governing board as well as a panel of constituents representing the district.

The three selected finalists include:

  • Jim Dean — Dean holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Acacia University, masters in educational leadership from University of Phoenix and a bachelors in elementary education from Grand Canyon University. He has served as acting superintendent as well as assistant superintendent for support services and human resources in the DUSD.
  • Kelvin Stroy — Stroy holds a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington, masters in education, and bachelors in sociology from Louisiana Tech University. He has served as chief student services officer at Rockwall Independent School District as well as director of student services at Mansfield Independent School District, and director of academic programs and schools at Cedar Hill Independent School District, all in Texas.
  • Nicolas Wade — Wade holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Argosy University-Schaumburg, masters in leadership and administration from Benedictine University and a bachelors in secondary education from Bradley University. He has served as superintendent of Lexington County School District Two in South Carolina and Elmwood Park CUSD #401 in Illinois.

Earlier this month the governing board sought feedback from the community, parents, students, and staff regarding characteristics they desire in a new superintendent, which is being used in the selection process.

It is anticipated that the governing board will complete the selection process in October, with a July 1, 2023, start date.
