The identities of two women killed in a car accident on Thursday, Aug. 12, have been released by the Glendale Police Department.
Sharri Wood, 54, of Phoenix, and Sandra Kay Williams, 72, of Glendale, died as the result of the accident.
Police say Bushiri Kibukila, 44, of Phoenix, has been charged with DUI in the incident.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 12, Glendale police and fire department personnel responded to reports of a two-vehicle accident in the 5800 block of West Camelback Road.
Wood, the front seat passenger of the sedan involved in the accident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Williams, the driver of the sedan, was pronounced deceased after being transported to a local hospital.
Kibukila, who drove an SUV involved in the accident, remained on scene.
Glendale Police Vehicular Crimes detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
Investigators determined that the sedan, while attempting to turn left into a private drive, collided with the SUV as it was traveling westbound on Camelback Road approaching 59th Avenue.
Kibukila was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
