Tuesday is the next Glendale City Council meeting day and the more big picture discussion topics are on the work session agenda.
The works session begins at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Glendale Civic Center, 5750 W Glenn Drive. The final item on the agenda is an update on the domntown campus reinvestment project, led by city architect Eddie Garcia.
This is the first update for the council since the Nov. 28 work session, also presented by Garcia.
Work has begun on the $94 million project to transform City Hall and the immediate area around it. The redevelopment is scheduled to finish near the end of 2025.
Before that item, the council will hear about and discuss the proposed annexation ofthe 2.9-acre Puda property south of Northern Avenue and West of Alsup Avenue.
Currently county land, this acerage is on a parcel a mile east of Wildlife World Zoo. Most of the property is in one chunk, save for the The north parcel of .31 acres now owned by the Adaman Irrigation Water District.
Since the property is located within the Luke Air Force Base noise contour lines, the applicant, Gilmore Planning &
Landscape Architecture, is looking to change the property's zoning to C2 for future commercial development.
The workshop also includes a Sine Building covered parking update.
During the regular City Council meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m., also in the Civic Center, the council will vote on another proposed annexation at the southeast corner of Peoria and Sarival avenues, just south of Surprise's current southern boundary.
Called Carioca at Peoria, this proposed development involves a 12.5-acre annexation as an intermediate commercial (C-1) parcel, a zoning designation Phoenix-based developer The Carioca Company intends to maintain.
Another council voting item is an agreement for a one-year contract with with Athletic Applications LLC for Camelback Ranch field replacement and renovations. That spring training expenditure would not exceed $2.95 million if approved.
