Code Ninjas debuts in Glendale

Vishal Bansal, owner of a new Code Ninjas, a learning center that debuted April 15 at 20329 N. 59th Ave., Suite. 6A, knows that video games aren’t only fun, but educational. Code Ninjas will serve the local area by teaching children computer coding and problem-solving skills while having fun building video games.

The grand opening for the new Code Ninjas in Glendale is 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 4. The event will consist of tours of the new space and various learning stations including Jimmy, Snap Circuits, Kamigami Robots, Drones as well as some video game building demonstrations.

The Glendale location is owned and operated by Mr. Bansal, a local entrepreneur who worked in the IT industry as a software engineer for 20 years. Looking to find a more consistent coding education for his 11-year-old son, Mr. Bansal discovered Code Ninjas in a nearby suburb and found it to have the best curriculum and structure for STEM education. His son’s enthusiasm for Code Ninjas combined with his dream for owning his own business made his decision to bring Code Ninjas to Glendale simple. The Glendale location will be Mr. Bansal’s first with plans to open another in Desert Ridge.

“I’m looking forward to making a difference in someone’s life by providing them with skills and education that can help them in a future career,” Mr. Bansal said. “Bringing Code Ninjas to Glendale will give me the opportunity to introduce the valuable skills of coding and computer programming to all children in the community.”

Glendale children ages 7-14 can look forward to visiting the new Code Ninjas center to learn how to code in a safe and social learning environment where gaming is celebrated, and STEM is cool.

Code Ninjas features a game-based curriculum made up of nine belts, just like martial arts. The curriculum is self-paced, but not self-taught; children get immediate help and encouragement from Code Senseis and fellow students as they advance from white to black belt. The program keeps children motivated with little wins along the way, and “Belt-Up” celebrations where they receive color-coded wristbands to mark their graduation to the next level. By the time a child finishes the program, they will publish an app in an app store.

Code Ninjas offers a variety of opportunities for children to get involved, including a flexible weeknight drop-in program, camps and Parents Night Out events on weekends.

Code Ninjas founder and CEO David Graham is a professional software developer who previously owned a successful chain of coding camps for adults. After numerous inquiries from parents, Mr. Graham realized there was an unmet demand to teach children coding skills. He launched the Code Ninjas brand in 2016.

“Parents want their children to learn the critical skills that they’ll need in the future, but it also has to be fun for kids. Code Ninjas has found that sweet spot where kids have fun and parents see results, and we’re truly excited to bring our unique concept to Glendale and surrounding communities,” said Mr. Graham.
