Car accident in Glendale kills one person

Posted

A car crash in Glendale on Wednesday afternoon left one person dead.

Glendale Police reports that just after 3 p.m. officers responded to the area of 5900 W. Belmont Ave., in reference to a vehicle collision with injury. The preliminary investigation determined two vehicles were traveling southbound on 59th Avenue when an apparent sideswipe collision occurred, according to the report.

Police say a truck left the roadway and collided with a concrete barrier. The driver of the truck was extricated from the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to GPD public information officer Gina Winn.

The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured and remained on scene.

The collision is still under investigation.
