Canned food drive to accompany big soccer match in Glendale

U.S. Soccer, Chicanos Por La Causa team up prior to kickoff

A canned food drive will accompany the huge U.S. vs. Mexico soccer match Wednesday in Glendale.

U.S. Soccer is teaming up with Chicanos Por La Causa to host a canned food drive ahead of the U.S. Men’s National Team’s matchup against Mexico in the inaugural Allstate Continental Clásico. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at State Farm Stadium, 1 Cardinals Drive.

To help fight food insecurity in the local community, fans can bring two cans of nonperishable food items to Fan HQ, located in The Great Lawn across the street from Gate 1, between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. in exchange for one raffle entry.

One winner will be chosen at random to win $200 to the U.S. Soccer Store, presented by Visa. Fans are allowed to bring multiple cans for multiple raffle entries.

The Allstate Continental Clásico is a new event that features the U.S. men’s team hosting a top-tier opponent from North, Central or South America, and demonstrates Allstate’s commitment to growing soccer in the United States in partnership with U.S. Soccer.

The U.S. holds a 17-9-7 advantage vs. Mexico since 2000.
