Personal background highlights: I moved out to the greater Phoenix area in 1980 and have loved every minute of it. I am a family man with four adult children but no grandchildren (yet), and have been married to my wife, Shannon for 10 years.
Professional background highlights: I started in the restaurant business in 1981 as a dishwasher and became a chef at Oscar Taylor in 1995. After my experience in the hospitality industry, I transitioned into construction sales and after 25 years, I opened the Modern Acupuncture in Arrowhead, at 20022 N. 67th Ave., Suite A116
What I do: As a small business owner, I do it all! From payroll and cleaning, to networking, I have the easy part of the business. Rest assured, I do not administer acupuncture, I leave that up to my awesome licensed acupuncturists!
What I like most about doing business here: I love the location we have in Glendale! We love the town and the people are very friendly!
Changes I’d like to see in this area: Since opening, we have noticed an increase in unique restaurants and businesses coming to the Northwest Valley from areas where they’re most prevalent, so I’d like to see that trend continue.
What am I promoting: At Modern Acupuncture, we want to make lives better and the way we do that is by providing holistic and natural stress relief. Acupuncture is a great way to stimulate the body’s natural healing process.
What I’m excited about and why: I am excited to see our patients’ lives improve with regular acupuncture care. I love offering people an alternative to modern medicine, which can cover up the symptoms and doesn’t make a real difference in their overall health.
Favorite community cause and why: As the son of a Korean War veteran, I am passionate about supporting our military. I am proud to admit that I have been able to work with the VA and provide acupuncture care for veterans.
My family: I have four fabulous kids, one who graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU in December, two others who are in college and my youngest, a junior at Ironwood High School.
My interests & hobbies: My wife and I travel in our RV as often as we can, exploring the U.S. My Jeep is my biggest project, always giving me something to work on and taking us on adventures everywhere we go.
People who inspire me (and how): My grandfather had a farm when I was growing up and had always worked for himself. Watching him inspired me to have my own business. Additionally, I love John Maxwell’s leadership books and how he teaches one to be a servant leader.
My guiding philosophy: Do what needs to be done. Do what needs to be done and don’t wait.
My advice to today’s youth: Don’t expect anything to be handed to you! Have the discipline to do it right the first time and you will truly be free to do all that you want.
