Barrio Queen serves meals to State Farm Stadium health care workers

Posted

Representatives from Valley Mexican restaurant Barrio Queen were on site at State Farm Stadium to support those making a difference at the Glendale COVID-19 vaccination site.

On Monday, Feb. 15, Barrio Queen visited the site at 1 Cardinals Drive to donate more than 400 individually sealed hot meals for all volunteers and health care workers. State Farm Stadium hosts one of the state-run COVID-19 vaccination sites.

The health care workers and volunteers were able to choose from a pork chile verde bowl, a pork chile rojo bowl, or a veggie tamales topped with Queen Sauce.

“We appreciate everyone who is working to keep Arizonans healthy and safe, and this was just one small way we felt we could say thank you for all they are doing,” Barrio Queen’s owners Linda Nash and Steve Rosenfield said in a statement.

Barrio Queen in December opened its first West Valley location, in Glendale, at 7640 W. Bell Road.

Since March 2020, the restaurant has donated food to help the health care workers serving around the clock at HonorHealth Hospitals, Mayo Clinic, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Banner Health, and Valleywise.
