Waldo's World 420 Music Fest cranks up on Saturday

An inaugural 420 celebration presented by Arizona’s first medical-marijuana dispensary is coming to downtown Glendale.

The Waldo's World 420 Music Fest goes from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at The Dealership Venue, 5307 W. Glendale Ave.

The party will feature live music by local bands, food trucks, DJs, dance battles, and live graffiti art by the Furious Style Crew. Look also for an all-local artisan village and a 420-friendly CannaVillage.

While a number of myths claim to be the origin of "420," a widely-believed story says in the 1970s a group of teenagers from San Rafael High School in Marin County would ritualistically smoke marijuana at 4:20 each day. The number 420 became their code for marijuana, and the five students called themselves the "Waldos," which referenced the wall they would sit on at their school.

The Glendale event is for those 18 and older with a medical marijuana card or 21+ for the public.

Arizona Organix Dispensary, at 5301 W. Glendale Ave., become the first medical-marijuana dispensary to be approved by the state, and opened its doors in 2012.

Tickets range from $15 to $40. Click here for tickets.
