3 Mountain Ridge students earn paid internship experience

Program gives trio opportunity in workforce

Three students from Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale were selected to participate in a paid internship experience with Optum.

Locally-sponsored National Academy Foundation (NAF) Future Ready Labs, a collaboration between NAF, business partners, and academy and district representatives, offer students an internship experience with an innovative and comprehensive structure.

Salil Naik, Anaika Sangelkar and Manasi Khandekar will take part in this valuable learning experience.

“I am excited to gain this professional work experience” Khadekar stated in a school news release.

The program provides high school students an opportunity to put their education into practice in a unique work environment with support from local business partners. In this iteration of the program, local businesses will partner with their NAF academy advisory boards to develop a strong local talent pipeline.

NAF partnered with the following companies to bring Future Ready Labs to students across the country: Capital One, KPMG, Optum, Verizon, Oath, Mastercard and World Wide Technology.

“We are excited to offer this unique opportunity that will benefit students, as well as local businesses and the communities they serve,” Future Ready Labs at NAF senior director Brooke Rice stated. “Businesses will see their return on investment immediately while actively shaping their future workforce.”

The Academy of Entrepreneurship at Mountain Ridge is a part of the National Academy Foundation. The students have opened 13 businesses while still in high school.

Mountain Ridge, 22800 N. 67th Ave., is an award-winning school with an A rating from the Arizona Department of Education and an A+ School of Excellence awarded by the Arizona Educational Foundation.
