Any parent with little kids can understand the struggle — the need to work or go to school balanced with the need to care for young ones during the day.
Giselle Velasco knows.
Velasco is a paraprofessional for special education where she works at Sunrise Elementary School in Phoenix within the Deer Valley Unified School District. She has two kids under the age of 6, including her youngest who, though now 3, previously couldn’t qualify for Traditional Head Start programs, which welcome children 3 years and up.
