The town of Gilbert is seeking applicants for three volunteer positions on the Parks and Recreation Board.

The Parks and Recreation Board strives to ensure that citizens of every segment of the town have opportunities to enjoy diverse leisure experiences. The board's recommendations may encompass programming of public improvements, policy input and review, capital projects, and programs and regulations relating to park and recreation areas.

The ideal candidate should be able to view issues from a big picture and longer-term perspective, be an advocate for parks and recreation in the community, be knowledgeable about the benefits that parks and recreation services provide within a community, interact with citizens on parks and recreation issues, and have ongoing citizen/neighborhood contact on issues related to the board.

Members must reside within town limits and be qualified electors. Members typically serve three-year terms. This board typically meets monthly on the second Tuesday of each month, or as needed. These are volunteer, unpaid positions.

Those people who are interested can apply on-line at https://commissions.gilbertaz.gov/apply/

Prospective applicants who would like to request a paper application can contact Judy Martinez at 480-503-6791 or judy.martinez2@gilbertaz.gov.

Applications must be submitted by 7 a.m. on Monday, April 3.
