William Michael “Mike” Sterry

William, died peacefully on July 16th 2021 at his home in Sun City West, AZ with his wife Linda at his bedside. He was 92 and his passing was the result of a 15 month struggle with congestive heart failure.
Mike is survived by his third wife Linda Perrigo Sterry; second wife Judy Sterry; his children, David Sterry, Daniel Sterry, Trevor Sterry. Stepson’s Eric Perrigo and Bill Perrigo. His grandchildren, Adam Sterry, Isabelle Sterry, Caroline Sterry, Leo Perrigo, Carlo Perrigo and Nicholas Perrigo.
Mike was born on December 7th, 1928 in Sumas Washington to Alexandra Murphy Sterry and William James Sterry and grew up with his brother Pat on a dairy farm in Abbotsford, BC where he and his brother learned they did not want to pursue careers in farming. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1954 with both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Ceramic Engineering and received his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley in 1972. Mike started a successful career at the Boeing Company in Seattle from which he retired after 37 years in 1991.
Mike was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, husband, son and brother. During the course of his life, he enjoyed skiing, tennis and golf and was an avid hiker and fly-fisherman. He was also an accomplished whitewater kayaker at one point. Mike enjoyed international travel and was fluent in French and Spanish, which he actively practiced until his passing. Most notably, Mike will be remembered for his love for food and passion for cooking and the joy of sharing a good meal and glass of wine over “substantive conversation” with his friends, family and guests. He touched many lives during his lifetime and throughout his travels and will be remembered by all for his intelligence, compassion, sense of humor, selflessness and love for all with whom he welcomed into his orbit.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on November 6th, 2021 from 12-3pm at: 14465 RH Johnson Blvd, Sun City West 85375. Quail and Coyote rooms. Masks required.
