Veteran Florence officer retires after 20 years

Florence Police Sgt. Scott Morris retired earlier this week after 20 years in the department.

Morris came to the Florence Police Department in 2004. He served as the “A” shift  squad patrol supervisor, where he oversaw radar systems, incident command, special operations planning and the police volunteer unit.

In all, Morris served 35 years in law enforcement. He began his career in 1988 with the Kissimmee Police Department in Florida, where he worked as a patrol officer, motor officer and detective in various units including property crimes, major crimes and homicide.

“Known for his professionalism and commitment, Sgt. Morris has been a guiding force for his team, ensuring excellence in reports, case management and community service” a post on the Florence Police Department Facebook page stated. “His mentorship and dedication to professional development have left a lasting impact on the department and the officers he has guided.”
