Robert Lawrence Landier, Jr.

Posted

Robert passed away at the Hospice of the Valley Thunderbird at the age of 89 on Saturday, October 3rd. He was born in San Pedro, CA on March 10th, 1931.
He later attended the University of Southern California. On August 25th, 1951 he married Barbara Joyce Davis in San Pedro, CA. A few years later after the birth of their two children, Denise Lynn and David Leonard, the family moved to Orange County, CA. Bob was a commercial insurance agent for 40 years. Bob and Barbara lost their daughter Denise to cancer in 2015.
After retirement Bob moved to Sun City West, drawn to the plethora of golf courses. He was an avid bowler, but his greatest love was Bocce. His enthusiasm for the game was so immense; he was on the advisory board and started the Monday and Wednesday night club, influencing many others to fall in love with the game as well. If you had the pleasure of knowing him, you most likely knew him as “Bocce Bob.” Bob loved this community so much he chose to volunteer for 8 years at the Visitor’s Center. Sharing his love for Sun City West, you may have even been introduced to this city on one of his famous tours.
His passing will leave a void in the hearts of the love of his life, Barbara, his son David and wife Wendy, his two grandsons Michael and Bryce Landier, his granddaughter Carrie Ihlanfeldt, and his great-grandchildren Joseph Simons, Noah, Alexis, and Andrew Ihlanfeldt. Bob’s ashes will be dispersed with his daughters in the Puget Sound in Washington State.
