The town of Florence will be closing roads later this month in Florence Gardens and areas in Anthem for pavement preservation work.

From June 12-16, there will be road closures at Florence Gardens. The road closures in Anthem areas will run June 19-26.

According to the town, the roads in those areas will be having a pavement preservation treatment that will extend the life of the streets.

“The benefits of properly maintained streets include higher property values, a smoother/safer ride and reduced costs to the community by prolonging the need for street repair and replacement,” according to the town.

Work will start at 7 a.m. each day and the streets being treated will be closed for approximately 24 hours. All vehicles must be removed from the streets before the work in the affected areas begins.

“A tow truck will be called for any cars parked on the streets scheduled to be treated that day. Towing expenses will be the vehicle owner’s responsibility,” the town stated.

If people drive on a road while it is closed, they will be liable for damage to their vehicles and for any repairs on the affected roads. The town said repairs to the installed road surface treatment can run from $600 to $3,000.

“In the event of a life-threatening emergency, emergency vehicles will not be stopped from driving on the treated surface,” the town added.

Residents also are being asked to turn off their sprinklers 24 hours before a road closure, 24 hours during the closure and 24 hours after treatment. Damage due to sprinklers will result in the same repair costs as those incurred by driving on the treated areas. Weather delays may extend planned closures for an additional day.
