Pinal County Supervisor Cavanaugh assigns nonprofit grants

Each year the Pinal County Board of Supervisors sets aside $100,000 per district to grant to local nonprofit organizations for the benefit of county residents.
County staff members review the grant applications and score them based on a rubric; rating each organization with a score of one to five in several different categories, according to a release.
This year Supervisor Kevin Cavanaugh, District 1, awarded $8,000 (8%) to education projects, $20,000 (20%) to economic development projects and $39,500 (39.5%) to projects relating to food, shelter and social services.
Supervisor Cavanaugh reserved approximately one-third of the funds for requests anticipated during the balance of the fiscal year.
