Parents can review proposed changes to Florence Unified curriculum

Posted

The Florence Unified School District is currently  providing a 60-day curriculum review period in which parents and/or guardians of high school students can review and comment on the proposed English Language Arts curriculum, StudySync from MacMillian Publishing.

If approved by the FUSD Governing Board, this new curriculum will be offered to all high school students throughout the district, according to a press release.

“Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction Dawn Winsor facilitated a committee consisting of a select group of district stakeholders that included parents, high school students, teachers, and district administrators along with representatives from the district’s technology, Exceptional Students Services and English Language Learner departments to review new English Language Arts curriculum,” the release stated.

On Nov. 30, the committee convened to review the ninth through 12th grade English Language Arts curriculum to make a recommendation to the FUSD Governing Board for approval and adoption at the February 2024 school board meeting.

Curriculum materials are currently on display at the FUSD office at 1000 S. Main St. Click the link if you wish to review the materials online at:
