The Pinal County Board of Supervisors has selected a new chairman for 2025.

The board unanimously voted at its Wednesday meeting to appoint District 3 Supervisor Stephen Q. Miller as chairman. His term will run through Dec. 31. He replaces District 2 Supervisor Mike Goodman.

Miller is an Arizona native and has lived in Pinal County for more than 45 years. He was first elected as supervisor of District 3 in 2013. Before being elected to the board of supervisors, Miller served more than 10 years on the Casa Grande City Council, according to the board’s website.

''I am honored to have been chosen by my fellow supervisors to chair the board at the start of my fourth term in office,” Miller stated in a press release. “I thank Supervisor Goodman for his leadership as chairman last year and warmly welcome our new Supervisor from District 1, Rich Vitiello. I truly look forward to working as one unified board of supervisors this year, with the betterment of the residents of Pinal County at the core of everything we do.''

Miller was reelected on Nov. 5 and ran unopposed. Vitiello replaces former District 1 Supervisor Kevin Cavanaugh who opted to run for Pinal County sheriff and lost in the Republican primary in July. Vitiello defeated Democrat George Arredondo Sr. in the general election.

District 4 Supervisor Jeffrey McClure was again selected to serve as board vice chairman.

McClure was elected to the board in 2020 and serves as chairman in 2022. Before joining the board, he was elected in 2012 to the Oracle School District Governing Board, where he served eight years.

Along with Miller, McClure, Goodman and District 5 Supervisor Jeff Serdy were all reelected in November after running unopposed.
