Residents are invited to join the Florence Police Department for National Coffee with a Cop Day.
“Come meet your neighbors and local police officers for a friendly conversation over coffee,” a post on the FPD’s Facebook page stated.
Residents will be able to meet officers at two times and locations on Wednesday.
9-11 a.m., Starbucks, 3605 N. Hunt Highway
Noon-2 p.m., The Station Coffee Co., 130 N. Main St.
National Coffee with a Cop Day began as part of National Community Policing Week in 2016 and now continues each year on the first Wednesday in October.
Coffee with a Cop is a nonprofit organization launched in Hawthorne, California in 2011, when officers from the Hawthorne Police Department were looking for ways to interact more successfully with residents, the group’s website stated
“It is a day dedicated to encourage communication and positive interactions between law enforcement agencies and the public,” according to the site.
