FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) — An inmate at the state prison in Florence has died of apparent suicide, correctional officials said.

Prison staff found Jason Rothlisberger, 45, unresponsive at the prison Friday and tried to revive him. The efforts weren't successful, and he was pronounced dead, the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry said in a news release.

Rothlisberger was convicted in Pinal County on eight counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of child molestation. He was sentenced in 2017 to life in prison.

Correctional officials and the county medical examiner's office will jointly investigate the death.
