Harold Orvis Hanson

 Harold Orvis Hanson was born in Linn Grove, Iowa on May 10, 1936, to Hiram Royal Hanson and Agnes Laurine (Fonley). He was the sixth child in a family of eight. 
Harold graduated from Linn Grove Consolidated School in 1953. He then moved to Sioux City, Iowa and worked for the Livestock National Bank from 1953-1957 until he was drafted into the U.S. Army.  Harold spent 19 months in the medical core stationed in Manheim, Germany.  He returned to Sioux City in 1959 and began working at Iowa Public Service (MidAmerican Energy) in various accounting positions.  While working full time, Harold earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Morningside College in 1970.  Harold retired from MidAmerican Energy in 1991 after 32 years of service.
Harold married April (Weekley) in 1971. They were disciples for their church and spent every moment of retirement life side-by-side until her passing in 2019.  To this union, two children were born, Justin Hanson in 1973 and Jerel Frazier (Hanson) in 1975.  
Harold and April began spending their winters in Apache Junction, AZ and later Sun City West, AZ, making Sun City West their permanent residence in 2015.  
Harold was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City for over 50 years where he served as an usher. He then became a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, AZ. Harold was a very generous person who believed in taking care of his family. He loved playing cards and staying up on current events and spending every moment with family and friends.
Survivors include sons, Justin (Carrie) Hanson of Noblesville IN and Jerel Frazier (James) of Peoria, AZ; grandchildren: Tyler and Abagail Hanson, Christopher and Nicholas Frazier; sister, Donna Benson of Aurora Colorado; sisters-in-law, Susan Hanson, Donna Treft, Leila (Robert) Agee; brother-in-law, John Kounas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  
Harold was preceded in death by parents, Hiram and Agnes (Fonley); three brothers, Robert (Susan), James (Virginia), and John (Gayle); four sisters: Rachel (Charles) Storm, Carol Norton, Janet Angert, and Karen Kounas (John).  
Services will held at a later date at Morningside Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
Donations may be made in his name to Morningside Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
