Residents turned out in force for Florence Make a Difference Day on Saturday.
More than 220 volunteers of all ages took part in the community event.
After gathering at the Viney Jones Library & Community Center, 778 N. Main St., the volunteers dispersed to take on a variety of projects aimed at making a positive impact on the community.
Projects included cleaning, collecting litter, digging, and planting.
There was also a special collection drive for area foster children. The town collected new and gently used bicycles throughout the event.
Those who couldn't volunteer on Saturday can still make a difference by donating to three ongoing collection drives for charity:
Teen hygiene products
For females – facial care items, soaps, deodorant
For males – shaving cream, soaps, deodorant
Harvest Share Holiday Meal Drive
The town’s goal is to donate 400 boxes of cake mix to families in need.
Jacket drive
The town is collecting new or gently used jackets for local youth.
Items can be dropped off at the comunity center. The deadline for the collection drives is Friday, Nov. 22.
