Jason Chavez, who has been with the Florence Police Department since 2017, is now a sergeant on the force.
“As a line-level officer, Chavez emerged as an informal leader among his peers. His leadership qualities and commitment to excellence led to his rapid advancement to the role of field training officer, where he has successfully trained numerous officers who are now integral to our team,” according to a press release from the town.
In recent years, Chavez has taken on the responsibilities of officer in charge, stepping in when the sergeant was unavailable and supervising other squads as needed. Additionally, he helped the department get a Governor’s Office of Highway Safety grant.
“Through a rigorous selection process, Sgt. Chavez has consistently demonstrated his leadership abilities and value as a member of the Florence Police Department. His success in this challenging process is a testament to his skills and dedication,” the release continued.
