At Monday’s Florence Town Council meeting, Thomas Gill was introduced as the town’s new utilities director.
Gill officially joined the town in December.
In his new role, Gill will oversee the operation and maintenance of Florence’s water and wastewater infrastructure and treatment facilities in the town’s continuing efforts to ensure that residents and businesses receive high-quality and reliable utility services.
Before joining Florence, Gill served as water services director for the city of Scottsdale, where he managed operations for a wide range of facilities, including water treatment plants, groundwater treatment sites, arsenic treatment facilities, wells, booster stations, reservoirs and an expansive water distribution system.
Prior to his time in Scottsdale, he worked for the city of Glendale and the city of Peoria in various leadership capacities.
“We are thrilled to have Thomas Gill join our team,” stated Town Manager Bruce Walls in a press release. “His extensive experience and passion for water and wastewater management make him the ideal choice to lead our Utilities Department. I look forward to the innovative solutions and forward-thinking approaches he will bring to ensure the long-term sustainability of our utility systems.”
Gill began his career in construction, specializing in water and wastewater pipeline installation. He holds Grade IV certifications in water and wastewater disciplines from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, as well as a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in organizational leadership.
