Fassbender: Donations needed for wreaths at 3,000 military veteran graves

Posted

There are 3,000 military veteran graves at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St. in Mesa, that do not have a wreath placed on their graves.

We need your help in purchasing a living wreath for only $15 each. Go online at  wreathsacrossamerica.org/AZ0184P.

Our goal is to honor all the American heroes who are interred at Mountain View.

Pinal County Veterans Memorial Foundation will be coordinating with other organizations to sell and place wreaths on all veteran grave sites at the Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery.

Other organizations who have joined are the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter No. 2560, American Ex-POW East Valley Chapter, VFW and VFW Auxiliary Post 7968, Navy JROTC at Apache Junction High School, Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 1011; San Tan Valley Boy Scout Troop No. 777, and there will be more joining to sell the wreaths.

The deadline in purchasing these wreaths is Nov. 15. In order for them to make the wreaths for the nationwide event, the sooner we order will help the team organize to make the wreaths.

Then at 10 a.m. Dec. 18, National Remembrance Day, we will place the wreaths on the veteran graves. This is a national event and each time zone is scheduled so that we all will do it at the same time.

Those who wish to help unload the semi when it comes in as well as help place the wreath on a veteran grave on Dec. 18, please contact Nancy Fassbender at 520-280-4715.
