A workshop titled “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” will be hosted in February and March by Central Arizona Aging and Pinal County Public Health.

The workshop helps caregivers take better care of themselves while caring for a relative or friend, according to a release.

The workshop is to be 10-11 a.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 5-March 12 on the Internet/Zoom as part of a project supported by the Administration of Community Living, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the state of Arizona Division of Aging and Adult Services and non-governmental sources.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

“Whether you provide care for a spouse, partner, parent, friend or a child with special needs; at home or in a care facility; whether down the block or miles away, yours is an important role,” the release states. “This course is for family caregivers like you.”

The classes are to give tools to help reduce stress; improve self-confidence; manage time, set goals and solve problems; better communicate your feelings; make tough decisions; and locate helpful resources.

“This six-week class series gives you the confidence and support to better care for your loved one — and yourself,” the release states.

For information or to register, email Mary Gonzales,maryg@caaging.org or call CAA at 520-836-2758.

In the class, caregivers will receive “The Caregiver Helpbook,” which follows the curriculum and provides additional tools to address specific caregiver issues.
