More than 40 Arizonans have answered the call to bring a bit of celebration, inspiration and wisdom to the 2020 graduates missing out on one of the biggest milestones of their lives – and districts and schools are invited to use these recorded celebrations with graduating classes and surrounding communities.

“The Virtual Graduation Project: Speeches to Inspire Arizona’s Future Leaders” includes speeches from the likes of these school leaders:

  • Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kathy Hoffman
  • Tolleson Elementary School District Superintendent, Dr. Lupita Hightower
  • Belen Soto Elementary School Principal, Courtney Frazier (Belen Soto, 18601 W. Campbell Ave., Goodyear; Litchfield Elementary School District)
  • Sunnyslope High School Teachers (Glendale Union High School District)
  • Junior Achievement
  • Chasse Building Team Founder, Barry Chasse

These speeches bring the celebrations and cheering section directly to the graduating student – eighth grade, high school and college messages included.

Cox Channel 4 will air the program 6 p.m. Sunday, May 17; 7 p.m. Monday, May 18; 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20; and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23. The show can be viewed the next day at www.YurView.com (click on ‘shows’ and look for ‘Doing More’).

All are invited to share the graduation speeches out to schools. Teachers can inspire classes to write and record original messages. Other teachers might want to use them as assignments for viewing and message analysis.

Principals and superintendents can watch and choose a few messages to share with communities through their own communication platforms.

All of the speeches will be released to the public to create a swirl of celebration for Arizona’s graduates May 14-22. Individuals are also invited to share messages that work for local communities.
