The Arizona Department of Health Services is reporting over 14,500 cases and 700 deaths of the coronavirus in the state.

As of Tuesday morning, there were 14,566 cases and 704 deaths, up 396 and 18 from the day before, respectively.

The case rate per 100,000 residents in the state is 200.1 when using 2019 population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau. Maricopa County is at 166.8 cases per 100,000.

The Maricopa County Department of Public Health, which shows different case counts than the state, is reporting 7,409 cases and 325 deaths as of Tuesday morning.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. But for some — especially older adults and people with existing health problems — it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.

Gyms have been allowed to reopen in Arizona. Big chains like Esporta/LA Fitness, Mountainside Fitness and Eos Fitness reopened Monday. Today, Life Time Fitness in Goodyear and Tempe are reopening. Life Time Biltmore reopened Monday as well, while its Peoria location continues to undergo construction towards an undisclosed grand opening.
