Westbound Loop 202 to close from Kyrene Road to 40th Street

Westbound lanes of the Loop 202 South Mountain and Santan freeways will close this weekend between Kyrene Road and 40th Street to allow construction crews to mill and pave the freeway and install overhead signs.
The section of the freeway will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, until 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21. In addition, ramps from I-10 to westbound Loop 202, and ramps from westbound Loop 202 to both directions of I-10, will be closed.
Drivers should consider taking Chandler Boulevard west from I-10 to enter Ahwatukee and follow 40th Street to reach Loop 202. Westbound drivers on Loop 202 should consider using Dobson Road north to Chandler Boulevard, then continuing west to I-10. Those traveling toward downtown Phoenix should consider taking Loop 101 north to U.S. Highway 60, then west to I-10.
The South Mountain Freeway is scheduled to be open to traffic by the end of the year with construction activities continuing into 2020.
