‘Superheroes Splash Down’ at Salt River Tubing June 27

Join Salt River Tubing for its Fourth Annual Superheroes Splash Down 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, for a “More Teens in the Woods” event.

Free bandannas will be distributed to everyone, according to a release.

The cost for the all-day Superheroes Splash Down on the Salt River is $19 plus tax per person, which includes tube rental, shuttle bus service and free parking at Salt River Tubing. Go to saltrivertubing.com.

Salt River Tubing is in northeast Mesa, seven minutes from Loop 202 Exit 23A on North Power Road in the Tonto National Forest.

Salt River Tubing encourages floaters to ensure a responsible “safe-distancing” atmosphere at the Salt River Tubing and Recreation Terminal Building and on its shuttle buses during transport to the Salt River.

Salt River Tubing and Recreation’s safety protocols require a face covering/bandanna during the tube-rental transaction process, shuttle bus transport to/from the Salt River as well as during the tube-return process at the end of the floater’s visit, with no exceptions.

Costumes are optional for floaters; however, Salt River Tubing will be awarding complimentary tube rental passes for the best superhero tuber costumes. Passes are valid on return visit to Salt River Tubing.

“The Superheroes Splash Down event last year was a colossal success. Tubers loved transforming themselves into their favorite superhero and riding the rocking rapids on Salt River. Let us put the ‘KAPOW!’ in your tubing adventure as you chill and thrill on the Salt River,” Henri Breault, president and CEO of Salt River Tubing, said in the release.

“Celebrate with Salt River Tubing our 40th anniversary on Salt River in Tonto National Forest,” he said.

The USDA Forest Service’s national program, “More Kids/Teens in the Woods,” was designed to encourage efforts to get kids and teens outdoors and exploring ways to connect youth and nature. Salt River Tubing’s Superheroes Splash Down event is aligned with the USDA Forest Service’s commitment in meeting the challenge of reduced youth involvement in outdoor activities, the release states.

The superheroes-themed event has been designed to capture the attention of teenage youth and encourage them to enjoy the “great outdoors” on the Lower Salt River in Tonto National Forest.

Salt River Tubing and Recreation operates under permit of the USDA Forest Service in Tonto National Forest.

Salt River Tubing is open daily 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Salt River Tubing accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards and cash. Credit card and cash transactions require a valid driver’s license for tube rental deposit and credit card identification. Go to saltrivertubing.com for more details regarding credit card transactions.

Children must be at least 8 or older and four feet tall for tubing and shuttle bus service. Life vests should be worn by children, non-swimmers and inexperienced swimmers.

Glass containers are not allowed in the Lower Salt River Recreational Area. Ice chests/coolers will be checked for glass containers. Bring plastic or can beverage containers. Responsibly appoint a designated driver before your tubing adventure. Drugs, alcohol and the Salt River do not mix, the release states.
